How the “Equality Act” Will Impact the Church
Introduction:
Unless you’ve been living under a rock this past decade, you’re probably aware of the rampant corruption this country has seen in terms of the LGBT movement both in politics and the church. In only a few years, we as a country have rolled over to the completely demonic agenda of the left in the pursuit of “healthcare and anti-bigotry”. Now we have biological men dominating in women’s sports and federal level healthcare positions being held by men pretending to be women. But now, there is now a high likelihood that a bill will be made into law that will greatly accelerate the gradual death of Christian liberty in this nation.
Over the past decade, the left has been supportive of what it calls “LGBT rights.” It has been successful in normalizing sodomy, legalizing same-sex “marriage,” and now instituting transgenderism. Now, the left is looking to take the next step with the “Equality Act.” Since the Democrats now have control over the entire government, it’s highly likely to pass, so it’s crucial you know how it will impact you, your children, your church, your business, and your job.
The Abomination Act, Background:
In March of 2019 the current version of a bill known as the “Equality Act” was introduced to the U.S House of Representatives. In summary, the Equality Act seeks to broaden the domain of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include “sexual orientation and gender identity” as well as expand this newly defined demographic into other existing laws. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibited the discrimination of anyone on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin in terms of equal protection of their rights under the law. It also greatly affected the private sector by prohibiting discrimination in the hiring/firing processes as well as in the business’ service provisions and promotions. This act prevented differential treatment towards these groups in many areas from voting, education, employment, to public accommodations and facilities. However, while the overarching objective seems to be the typical leftist agenda we are used to hearing on the surface, a closer look reveals something even more destructive. Dr. James White has nicknamed the bill, “The Abomination Act,” and as we examine the practical implications for Christians, it’s obviously an apt title.
As If Things Weren’t Bad Enough:
One of the most dastardly sections to discuss revolves around that of public accommodations. The bill states in section 3 subsection a-4 that these entities are required by law to serve and accommodate the protected groups mentioned before:
any establishment that provides a good, service, or program, including a store, shopping center, online retailer or service provider, salon, bank, gas station, food bank, service or care center, shelter, travel agency, or funeral parlor, or establishment that provides health care, accounting, or legal services…
What does this mean? It means that any refusal to provide any of the aforementioned services on the account of religious convictions or any other legitimate reason can and will be legally prosecutable. If you thought the Christian baker had it bad in 2017, wait until a Christian doctor refuses to chemically castrate a child with hormone blockers or physically castrate them through “gender reassignment surgery”. But the mayhem only begins there. Under section 1101 subsection b-2, the bills says in regards to gender identity: “an individual shall not be denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room, and a dressing room, that is in accordance with the individual's gender identity”. I shouldn’t need to explain how completely evil and foolish this is, but yes, this means that it will be legally okay for a 50 year old man to change in front of women of all ages and use the same restrooms and showers as them with no legal repercussions whatsoever.1 This clause alone should have earned widespread rebuke in the U.S Congress, but instead it received thunderous applause in the Congressional chambers as it passed through the House.
Kiss Your Freedoms Goodbye:
At this point, the left has dropped all pretense of respecting the 1st Amendment (Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...) or even adhering to existing legislation. For example, an important act reinforcing the Constitutional amendment known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (or RFRA for short) is now under attack from this new Equality Act. The RFRA stands “to provide a claim or defense to persons whose religious exercise is substantially burdened by government.” This act was instrumental in the 2014 U.S Supreme Court case of Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. where Hobby Lobby was under fire for refusing to provide abortion-inducing drugs for their employees, which was mandated under ObamaCare. The RFRA, which was ironically introduced by Chuck Schumer, was a huge contributor to Hobby Lobby’s win.
A key clause in the Abomination Act in section 1107 states “The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 shall not provide a claim concerning, or a defense to a claim under, a covered title, or provide a basis for challenging the application or enforcement of a covered title.” This short clause, hidden under many paragraphs of legalese, is the beginning of the formal end of Christians’ liberty in the United States. By nullifying the effects of the RFRA, Christians have little hope in legally defending their rights to exercise their faith in their everyday lives. If a business refuses to allow men to enter their women’s bathroom or vice versa, that could be a federal crime. If a church refuses to hire a transgender person to any position based on what the Lord commands in Scripture, that could be a federal crime. If a baker decides not to cater a fake marriage of two homosexual men like we saw in 2017, that could be a federal crime. This bill is sinister, evil, and an abomination. With the passing of this bill into law, the left will have an insurmountable amount of power to trample the freedoms of American church, a power it should have never been close to having.
Conclusion:
The bill has already passed through one chamber of Congress, and with a Democratic majority in the Senate, and a leftist puppet in the oval office, it is only a matter of time until this bill is made into law. These past couple years have served as a buffer to delay the bill, but those days are now behind us. What then shall we as servants of the Lord do if this bill is made into law? As always, we are obligated to remain faithful and obedient to God’s commands. We believe the church will be given victory this side of heaven, but that doesn’t mean things won’t get a lot worse first. With threats like this on the horizon, Christians need to begin taking practical steps to prepare for increased maltreatment from government and other left-controlled institutions. That’s why Protestant Post is planning on discussing practical things Christians can do in the near future. This may be easier said than done when the threat of prison hangs over our heads, but our allegiance as sons and daughters of God is to Him and Him alone. God bless.
This should be yet another wake up call to pull your kids out of public schools.
